Tara Chandran

Tara Chandran is a lawyer and advocate based in Toronto, Ontario. She was born and raised in Markham, Ontario, where she lived until moving to Montreal, Quebec. While there, she studied Political Science at McGill University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2019. Her time at McGill deepened her passion for Indigenous Law and Criminal Defense, leading her to Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto. Tara focused her studies almost exclusively on Indigenous Law and Criminal Defense, while also working as a Research Assistant for Dr. Deborah McGregor’s work on Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Environmental Justice. After graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2022, she articled at Grillo Law. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2023.

 

Tara began practicing with J. de Whytell Law in 2023, where she continues to hone her practice while providing strong advocacy to those facing discrimination in the justice system.
